The songs of Westworld are not just bookends they are storytellers. While this technique is not exclusive to Westworld, rarely has a show assigned its licensed soundtrack such a critical role. In the Season 1 finale, Finnish subtitles appeared to give away coordinates that fans traced back to the Spratly Islands, in the South China Sea. Since Westworld premiered in 2016, viewers have wondered where Delos six sprawling theme parks are located. Once you get past the shock of hearing these familiar songs in an unfamiliar way, you begin to realize that that curated music of Westworld is telling you more than the show’s script sometimes does.
